Invitation to NBFIRA Anti-Money Laundering/Combatting Financing of Terrorism & Proliferation (AML/CFT&P) Awareness Workshops
- We refer to the above captioned subject matter.
- In recognition of the imperative obligation of its role as a supervisor to raise awareness to specified parties, the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) will host awareness workshops for the NBFI sector in the following towns:
- Maun and Surrounding Areas on the 4th November 2019, at Cresta Rileys Hotel, at 0900hours.
- Letlhakane and Surrounding Areas on the 6th November 2019, at 0900hours at Thakadu Hotel Conference Centre, Letlhakane.
- Francistown and Surrounding Areas on the 7th November 2019, at 1400hours at Cresta Thapama Hotel, Francistown.
- The purpose of the workshops is to raise awareness on the AML/CFT obligations of NBFIs in accordance with the local legislation and international standards, as well as to create an opportunity for the NBFIs to engage with the regulator regarding their AML/CFT& P obligations.
- The focus of the awareness outreach will include:
- Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing & Proliferation (ML/TF&P) risk assessments
- Combatting Proliferation Financing
- AML/CFT policies and procedures
- Compliance function
- Suspicious Transactions Reporting (STR)
- Record keeping and Customer due diligence measures including Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBO) and Prominent and Influential Persons (PIPs)
- Record keeping
- NBFIRA wishes to invite the AML Compliance Officers/Principal Officers of NBFIs to the awareness workshops and further encourages them to participate in the engagements.
