INVITATION TO NBFIRA AML/CFT DEPARTMENT AWARENESS WORKSHOP-JWANENG AND SURROUNDING AREAS
To: Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officers (AMLCOs): Principal Officers: Non-Bank Financial Institutions in Jwaneng and Surrounding Areas (“NBFIs”)
- We refer to the above captioned subject matter.
2. In recognition of the imperative obligation of its role as a supervisor to raise awareness to specified parties, the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) will host an awareness workshop for the NBFI sector (Jwaneng and Surrounding Areas) on the 20th August 2019, at 0900hours at Cresta Jwaneng Hotel.
3. The purpose of the workshop is to raise awareness on the AML/CFT obligations of NBFIs in accordance with the local legislation and international standards, as well as to create an opportunity for the NBFIs to engage with the regulator regarding their AML/CFT obligations.
4. The focus of the awareness outreach will include:
- Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (ML/TF) risk assessments
- AML/CFT policies and procedures
- Compliance function
- Suspicious Transactions Reporting (STR)
- Record keeping and Customer due diligence measures including Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBO) and Prominent and Influential Persons (PIPs)
- Record keeping
- NBFIRA wishes to invite the AML Compliance Officers/Principal Officers of NBFIs to the awareness workshop and further encourages them to participate in the engagements.
