Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) invites suitably qualified individuals to apply for the following vacancy:
Deputy Chief Executive Officer - Regulatory
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Main Purpose of the Job
To oversee the regulation and supervision of the non-bank financial institutions sector so as to foster the safety and soundness of non-bank financial sector.
Key Performance Areas
- Make an input into development of Strategic Plans and institutional capacity for NBFIRA and oversees smooth implementation;
- Direct the development and review of the regulatory framework;
- Direct and supervises operations, reporting progress to the Chief Executive Officer;
- Prepare and controls the operational budget for the directorate in line with guidelines;
- Oversee communication and collaboration with key stakeholders including the Government and international agencies that have functions related to the regulation or supervision of financial services, taxation, social security or the financial system;
- Oversee the granting of licences to non-bank financial institutions, originate and publish rules and regulations to guide the conduct of their affairs, with a view to ensuring soundness and stability in the financial system;
- Ensure the supervision and monitoring of the non-bank financial institutions sector for compliance with the relevant legal instruments (Acts of Parliament, Regulations and Rules) to ensure financial soundness of the sector;
- Direct the development and review of appropriate legal, regulatory, risk, and corporate governance framework(s), as well as ensuring compliance thereof.
Position Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Management or related qualification;
- Membership of an internationally recognized professional financial/accounting institute will be an added advantage.
- At least fourteen (14) years’ experience in a financial/regulatory environment of which a minimum of two (2) should have been at Executive Management level in an organisation of similar size to NBFIRA.
