NBFIRA Public Outreach
As part of stakeholder engagement and consumer protection, the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) held a public outreach initiative at The Fields Mall in Gaborone on March 19, 2024.
The purpose of the outreach was to promote consumer protection and financial education, thereby empowering consumers of non-bank financial products and the general public about the Authority’s regulatory and supervisory mandate and their consumers’ rights and responsibilities across the regulated industries.
The outreach also provided a platform for the Authority to engage members of the public on licensing requirements for those interest in becoming industry players, as well as the complaints management procedure to be followed in order for them to lodge a complaint with the Authority, after having first followed and exhausted the respective regulated entity’s complaints management process.
