NBFIRA Delivers Presentation to the Ghanzi Full Council Meeting, August 2024
As part of stakeholder outreach efforts, the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) delivered a presentation to the Ghanzi District Full Council Meeting and held a mall activation on August 27-28, 2024. The stakeholder engagement efforts strengthened awareness about the Authority's mandate and consumers' rights and responsibilities when they procure products and services from the Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) sector.
Whilst delivering the presentation, Mr. Augustine Sepoe, Manager of Communications and Consumer Affairs interacted with the Counsellors, responding to their questions on the Authority's mandate, regulatory issues, and how the Authority protects consumers of regulated entities. Mr. Sepoe welcomed suggestions posed by Councillors relating to various aspects of supervision and consumer protection.
Mr. Sepoe and Ms. Tshepiso Letsholo also undertook a mall activation where members of the public were empowered about the Authority's mandate, their rights and responsibilities as consumers as well as licensing requirements for aspiring industry participants. This interaction enabled the Authority to identify areas of concern relating to financial products and services, buttress its customer protection role and avail the NBFIRA Complaints Procedure to those wishing to lodge complaints.
