Appointment of Mr. Oduetse Andrew Motshidisi as Chief Executive Officer
The Board of the Regulatory Authority is hereby pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Oduetse Andrew Motshidisi as the Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Motshidisi will be taking over from Mr. Sriram Gade who has been the Acting Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Gade will continue as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Regulatory).
As an accomplished executive whose illustrious career in the financial services sector commenced in 1989, Mr. Motshidisi has built a reputation within the industry for his leadership abilities which are synonymous with a solid track record of achieving organizational goals.
His career highlights include inter alia serving in progressively senior positions at the Bank of Botswana specialising in Foreign Exchange Reserves Management. His career at the Central Bank culminated in him serving as one of the two Deputy Governors where he oversaw strategic central banking matters, management of the Bank as well as policy advice to the Government of Botswana on key economic and financial issues.
Additionally Mr. Motshidisi acquired international experience through having worked for the International Monetary Fund and the United States Agency for International Development where he provided policy advice on the development of the financial sector in Africa and project management respectively.
Mr. Motshidisi has served on various boards, including as Chairperson of Absa Botswana. He has also served as Vice Chairperson of the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE), Vice Chairperson of the Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA) and was a founding member of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds.
Mr. Motshidisi amongst others holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Botswana, and a Master’s from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA).
